This morning on my daily commute, a long stretch of highway with a twist in the middle, I looked at the cruise control button and said why not. After struggling with it a bit, it went on, and that feeling!
I thought it was a gadget but me great for long rides on the highway.

Yes ! I was made to think that I was going soft when I mentioned liking cruise control on bikes, but that feeling of the bike gliding on without any throttle input is ace.

And I, too, like going hands free when the context allows it.

It's one of those things that kept from going back to my EU4 Nine T actually.

Love having the cruise control, it allows a much more relaxed ride,... When I rode Route 66 in 2014 the Harley Streetglide had cruise control too, so much nicer when cruising the 2lanes even at 50-60mph it is more relaxing!

Defenately a requirement when I get a Scrambler.... (snif)

Me and the machine had just met .. early 2016. She's a baby, I'm already an old man. Decided I'd test her out and see if we fit by doing an iron butt (1K miles in a day) almost 15 hours later got home and was unable to grip my door keys to get in my house. Friction Cruz control was purchased the next day ! Essential to rest your throttle hand and arm on long rides, nothing sissy about it. Don't have one - get one ! ………..Blitz✌😎

Some people don't seem to get on with a cruise control on a bike. For me I have had it on my last 3 BMWs and 60,000+ miles, using it is completely second nature, would not be without it.

I never really understood why some folks always get up on their high horses about cruise control.

If you don't use use it you won't even know it's there !

I didn't believe in it before trying it this morning

It does need a bit of a leap of faith at first, but it can be deactivated so easily.

Just made me think, I wonder if they will ever develop active cruise control for bikes?

And should you decide to have your robot assistant go to the office tomorrow instead of yourself, here's the solution for that already:

And I'm thinking: what for?!?

Cruise control is the one thing that wasn't available on my 2020 that I'd love to have. I'll end up buying some kind of throttle lock soon for long days and tours next year.

Thanks for that, interesting. I wonder when that would be an option on the R Nine T?

That seems to be one of the largest rubs for me having older R9Ts. The biggest improvement was fly by wire which eliminates the need for throttlebody scync and allows factory cruise control. I utilize The cruise control feature on my adventure on every long trip and in known speed traps. I'm not a big fan of static friction cruise control devices. I do use the small wrist rest just to give my hand a break. I envy all the new model riders for their cruise control.

I have ACC in my cars, and yes there is a use-case for it, sometimes. But I hardly use it, might as well sit in a commuter train. To me, that's totally beside the point, especially in riding. Pushing and controlling all those buttons available distract from driving, imo. (Down)hill assist, lean-angle meter, CO2 footprinter, what else don't we need? I'm also concerned we're raising a generation of button-pushers who really have no idea what to do in an unusual situation. Ask an airline pilot who's flying that plane 99% of the time he sits in that cockpit. Might as well eliminate that position. Just my 2cts.

I was told at the dealership that the older models Cannot retro install factory cruise control. It has something to do with the fly by wire programs in the bike brain. I would definitely go for it if they find a fix for that.

? I'm not tracking the 👅 in cheek.
It is on newer models and cannot be retrofitted on older as of yet.

Sorry it is an English phrase meaning, I was not being serious

Oh I get the meaning we use it here too. To me most of the upgrades from the original R9T up until now we're mostly cosmetic and a few bug fixes. The fly by wire made me scream "damn their eyes!!!" One less maintenance step and a leap in performance. Lol

I wouldn't miss it if I didn't have it, but it is useful. I also retrofitted cruise control to my Triumph as its in the "nice to have" category.
