Buyers of the 2013 Shelby GT350 will have more choices when it comes to adding extra power and visual punch to their Mustang-based muscle machine. About the only thing not being offered in this third year of the modern GT350 is more cars. If you want one, you'd better act fast, because Shelby is limiting production to only 350 units. Available as either a coupe or convertible, the Shelby GT350 uses a standard Mustang GT as the base for its extensive tuning magic. The results range from a 430-bhp naturally aspirated version, to supercharged 525-bhp and tire-melting 624-bhp variants. You can opt for an automatic transmission only with the non-supercharged models.

A Broader Performance Palette
During a test drive of a 2012 GT350 convertible – fitted with the blown 525-bhp 5.0-liter V-8 – we praised the car for its usability and high level of fit and finish. Yet when you want to open it up, the sprint from 0 to 60 mph is accomplished in the low 4-second range. New this year is a cold air package for the normally aspirated model that bumps output to 450 horsepower. Other new Shelby offerings include a one piece drive shaft, more powerful brakes, interior upgrades and color coordinated billet aluminum engine cap set. And for the first time since its reintroduction, the GT350 can be ordered with any color available on the standard Mustang.
